After premiering the first teaser last week, Netflix has presented the new poster for its animated series based on Castlevania. The piece is being used to promote the show in Japan, and it features a stunning art design, with a very distinctive use of red and black, which is very in line with the dark and grim atmosphere of the series.
However, what makes it even more interesting is that the concept for the poster is directly taken from the cover of the first Castlevania game released on the original Nintendo console, with the protagonist adopting the same pose facing Dracula’s castle in the background.
It’s normal to see the marketing campaign trying to appeal to long time fans of the series, since the show in itself will not only remain very close to the games in terms of aesthetic, but it will also take the storyline of Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse, which presents the first encounter between Dracula and a member of the Belmont family. That said, the show is expected to introduce brand new characters.
The Castlevania show will be written by Warren Ellis and produced by Adi Shankar. The first season will premiere worldwide through Netflix on July 7th, while a second season will follow in 2018.
