The amount of promotion for Injustice 2 has been very consistent over the last few months after many months of hardly any news whatsoever. With the game only two weeks away, NetherRealm is wrapping up the character trailers and now we have one for the game’s main villain and one for the game’s pre-order DLC character as well.
Brainiac was introduced as being involved with Injustice during one of the earlier trailers for the game, but he had mostly been kept to that capacity for awhile. Unlike some games that don’t have have the main boss playable, Brainiac is part of the roster and he looks great.
As seen in the above trailer, Brainiac has a very intriguing move set that is built around metal tentacles that come out of his back. While he can use regular melee attacks, most of his combos end up involving the tentacles. He definitely looks very similar to what you would think a playable Doctor Octopus in a Marvel game would play like, with Netherrealm possibly beating Capcom to the punch with rumors of Doc Ock showing up in the upcoming Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite after being cut from 3 before release.
The other character trailer we received was that of Injustice 2’s pre-order bonus character Darkseid. Darkseid was first announced awhile back and has been advertised at the end of most trailers since for the game. However, this now gives us out first glimpse at him in action.
Darkseid is one of the strongest beings in all of comics and Injustice 2 does a great job of conveying this by making him fight very nonchalantly. He looks as if he’s barely putting out an effort, but can still wreck enemies with ease. His Omega Beams are the central focus of his attack set, with them moving all over rather than straight. This ties into his super move as well, which looks almost important to avoid without blocking.
Injustice 2 is set to release for Xbox One and PS4 on May 16. If you are planning on getting the game, make sure to pre-order before release so that you can get Darkseid for free. Otherwise, you’ll have to wait to buy him later like Goro was with Mortal Kombat X.
