The Nintendo 3DS just got the release of a new game just last Friday with Fire Emblem Fates, along with a few new games coming next month as well. For those that might be picking up their 3DS to play in the next few days, you will need to download a brand new system update if you want to access any online services.
The Nintendo 3DS’s latest system update is now out with update number 10.6.0.0-31, which definitely is one of the most lackluster updates we’ve seen with no content changes that we know of.
Instead, the update is another stability update that we are pretty used to by now with the Nintendo 3DS.
“Further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience.”
Nintendo has now revealed any details of the “other minor adjustments,” but it’s possible it may be a way to shut down any homebrew that was circumventing the previous system firmware.
This update will not be required just to play games that you are already play that are offline, but to access online services or the Nintendo 3DS eShop, you will be forced to do this update. Also remember that your battery has to be charged enough to do the update, so make sure to have it charged if you plan on doing either of these and haven’t updated yet.
