The Nintendo President recently made some interesting comments regarding the Nintendo NX console. It may introduce us to a new idea that we haven’t seen in gaming before.
Nintendo President Tatsumi Kimishima revealed the company’s plans for 2016 to Japanese newspaper Mainichi Shimbun. He spoke briefly about the plans for the Nintendo NX console.
The translated text says that the Nintendo NX console is “not the successor of any existing game machine, but it is something that is based on an entirely new idea“. It sounds like Nintendo does not think the new console will be a successor to a Wii U or Wii as it will bring a new idea we have not seen before.
A translation from a user on NeoGAF also mentions that Nintendo will announce the details of the NX in 2016. We know this already, but Kimishima did not mention if the console will actually be released in the calendar year of 2016. It looks like we’ll just have to wait for more details for release date information.
Some people feel the console is coming in late 2016, while gaming analyst Michael Pachter feels it won’t be out until 2017. It’s best to wait until Nintendo makes an official announcement before we start guessing when it will be out.
