The Legend of Zelda Wii U has been a bit of a mystery over the last year, as the game has been out of the limelight pretty much since The Games Awards 2014. There continue to be rumors of the game getting a dual launch on Wii U and NX, with some worried it might not even come out this year. However, as the latest Nintendo earnings report has come out, Nintendo has reaffirmed a 2016 launch.
Nintendo just released their Q3 financial earnings reports that showed some solid improvement for the company, as we told you last night. Along with that report always comes pages of supplementary information, which includes upcoming release dates.
This list of course had the soon to be released titles like Fire Emblem: Fates, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD, and even as far out as April with Star Fox Zero.
These were followed with a number of games with more vague release dates of just 2016, which includes of course The Legend of Zelda Wii U. A previous report sparked some controversy when this game was shown as TBD, but that was corrected later.
At this point, it sounds like the game is still on track, with a release date likely coming later this year, especially if it is also coming to the NX. Hopefully we’ll get another look at the game in one of the next Nintendo Directs that have to be coming soon.
