Nintendo Reveals Next Waves Of Amiibo For 2015

by Dean James

Ever since the announcement of the amiibo, Nintendo’s answer to Skylanders and Disney Infinity, earlier this year, gamers have been excited to finally get their hands on them. That time will come a week from Friday, on November 21, when Super Smash Bros. for Wii U releases. We had seen who was making up the first two waves and now we know who will be coming in the early months of 2015 as well.

At least in Japan, eight new amiibo will be released in January, while three will be debuting in February according to the official Nintendo of Japan amiibo page. January 22 will bring Rosalina, Toon Link, Lucario, Bowser, Sheik, Ike, King Dedede, and Meta Knight, with February bringing Shulk, Mega Man and Sonic. However, no release date has been revealed for other territories yet.

There is no word quite yet on which of these amiibos will be compatible with games outside of Super Smash Bros., but it is likely that we’ll see ones like Sheik unlock something special in Hyrule Warriors, similar to Link and Zelda. It is possible we may also see more Mario Kart 8 costumes being unlocked by some of these, but at this point is it unknown.

What amiibos will you have to buy once they come out and what ones are you still waiting for them to announce?
