Nintendo has disclosed its financial report for the last three months, estimating the number of Nintendo Switch consoles shipped over April, May and June in 1.97 million, which makes 4.7 million in total since the console’s launch in March. The best selling games on the platform are, unsurprisingly, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, with 3.92 million copies sold, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, with 3.54 million sales. Each of them present a stunning attach ratio compared with the number of consoles, proving to be the main attraction for the public when hey make their purchase.
Another Nintendo production, ARMS, also gets an honorific mention, as it has crossed 1.18 million sales since its release in June. While it’s not comparable with the phenomenal sales of the first Splatoon game, they are a strong sign that Nintendo could have created another important IP.
The distribution of Nintendo Switch has been different for each territory, with the American continents receiving 1.95 million consoles, Europe and others receiving 1.63 million, and Japan receiving 1.12 million.
So far the hybrid console is performing better than its predecessors Wii U and Nintendo 3DS on a worldwide scale: Wii U had distributed 3.45 million consoles in its first six months, while Nintendo 3DS had shipped 4.32 million. Whether it can maintain compared with the time when 3DS started to sell better will be determined on Nintendo’s ability to end the severe stock issues that are still affecting the Switch.
On another note, Nintendo also gave updated total numbers for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U, with the handheld console having shipped 67.08 million consoles, and 13.56 in the case of Wii U. You can check out the full financial report from Nintendo’s website.
