A software engineering student, by the name of Andrei Ghenoiu, who is currently attending Vermont Technical College, has been hard at work developing a mysterious and awe inspiring game titled, On Your Own. Developed using the Cryengine, On Your Own, sees the player wake upon an island in the Pacific Ocean, with no recollection of how they ended up there.

The player will be tasked with trying to survive the wilderness, by setting up numerous traps for wildlife, scouring for resources, and living day-by-day for the unknown future. Ghenoiu has touted the game as a survival simulation, and is currently developing it for PC, with plans to bring it over to PS4.  Ghenoiu even commented about his passion for games in an interview saying:

“I’ve always been very passionate about gaming. Back when Basic was running on the old Commodore type machines, my Grandpa bought me a book that had a bunch of the simple games that you would have to type by hand. I enjoyed that quite a lot.”

The purpose of the title is for players to explore and discover the mystery of their circumstances without the aid of instructions or hints. The story is unveiled through investigation and the constant juggling of staying alive and well. On Your Own, will also feature a 24 hour day cycle, and realistic environmental changes.  Based on the images and scope of the game, On Your Own, looks to be a refreshing project in the clutter of action-adventure titles.
