Overwatch Anniversary Event Will Feature New Arena Maps

The upcoming Overwatch Anniversary event that’s scheduled to take place between May 23 and June 12 is starting to take form.  It appears that as part of this celebration, Blizzard will be releasing three new Arena maps and have begun to tease the new content.

If the new maps look familiar it’s because they should.  They appear to be parts of existing maps: Dorado, Eichenwalde, and Anubis.

The Anniversary Event was just announced yesterday, and during the event Blizzard will be giving away a free trial to the game alongside the event.  From May 26th through the 29th, anyone will be able to try Overwatch as the game will be hosting a free weekend on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

As for these Arena Maps.  There’s been some speculation that it could introduce a new way to play the game in smaller groups with different rules.  Blizzard hasn’t said anything on their end regrading that just yet, but as the one year anniversary for Overwatch approaches we’ll likely hear more.
