Some surprising news coming out of PlatinumGames, as it is being reported that the company’s president, Tatsuya Minami, has stepped down. The news was revealed by Game Business via a translation from Kotaku, where it is said that he resigned at the end of March.
Kenichi Sato is said to be Minami’s replacement, though little other information has come to light at this time. We’ll just have to wait and see if the company decides to release an official statement regarding the issue going forward.
The news of Minami stepping down is all the more surprising considering that this has been a very successful time for the company, with games like Bayonetta 2 and Transformers: Devastation doing very well and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan and Scalebound both looking very promising.
PlatinumGames most recently released the Wii U exclusive Star Fox Zero and Star Fox Gaurd, which have both received solid yet slightly underwhelming reviews.
