Even with an exhausted supply of PlayStation 4 consoles in North America, Sony has once again outsold Microsoft’s Xbox One in February. Sony did not reveal the exact number of PlayStation 4 consoles that they sold in February, but they did sell more than Microsoft’s 258,000 Xbox Ones.
Though it had to be pretty close. Microsoft did say that while they didn’t sell the most consoles, they did make the most money due to the higher price of the Xbox One. Analysts estimate that Sony sold just under 300,000 PS4s in February.
Hardware showed signs of improvement on a year over year basis. Even Nintendo’s Wii U sales were bolstered by the release of Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze.
On the games front, sales were less than stellar. Â A lack of compelling content for these new consoles was apparently a problem in February. Â You can find the top 10 sellers across all platforms, below.
1. Call of Duty: Ghosts
2. The Lego Movie Videogame
3. NBA 2K14
4. Thief
5. Grand Theft Auto V
6. Battlefield 4
7. Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag
8. Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII
9. Minecraft
10. Bravely Default
March should once again be a good month for the industry. Major releases like Titanfall and Infamous: Second Son should continue to sell new consoles.
