The end of the month means it is time for Sony and Microsoft to reveal the free games that their subscribers will be receiving for April 2016. Microsoft kicked things off with a suite of “blockbuster” titles, and today Sony has followed up with their new PlayStation Plus free games. Taking a distinctly different track, the list has a bunch of smaller, but still quite enjoyable games.
PS4: Zombi and Dead Star
PS3: I am Alive and Savage Moon
PS Vita: A Virus Named Tom and Shutshimi
Zombi will likely be the headliner for most gamers. While the title is a relative unknown on PlayStation, it made a big splash at the launch of the Wii U under the title ZombiU. The game is a gritty and realistic take on the zombie apocalypse, tasking players with trekking across London in search of supplies and some form of rescue. Death is final though, so if you fail, your successor will need to find your lost equipment and gear to carry on.
Dead Star is the other PS4 title, and should also be the other one most players are interested in. The game will be launching as part of the PlayStation Plus free games selection. The game is described as “a team-based shooter with RPG influence that we are excited to have launch as a Plus game. Dreamed up by the folks at Armature Studio (Founded by key members of the Metroid Prime team!), Dead Star is the result of a “Wouldn’t it be cool if…” process that started with a space shooter foundation and includes elements of strategy and MOBA-like titles. The result is a 20-player online experience that’s easy to pick up and play, but also offers a great deal of depth (skill trees, ship upgrades, team strategy, and more).”
