Pokemon Go Creators Were Worried Players Wouldn’t Want To Leave The House

The creators of Pokemon Go were a little worried while making the game as they weren’t sure if gamers were willing and able enough to leave their house in order to play it.

You may already know that you have to actually leave the house in order to catch more Pokemon in Pokemon Go. This is breaking tradition since most video games require you to just sit in your house to play them.

4Gamer (translated by MediaCraft) had a chance to talk to Niantic’s Masashi Kawashima where he spoke about some of the uncertainties about the game’s design. He thought it would be challenging for gamers to accept a location-based game.

He said: “Honestly, it was riddled with uncertainties. When you say ‘game’, the image of playing at home is quite common, right? Particularly with Pokemon Go, which is now available in some areas, I’d say that there are many people who think ‘What? I have to walk around? I probably shouldn’t play this game.’. That sort of thing is normal, so we have to surpass those challenges. That the concept was accepted by more people than we had imagined is something I’m very thankful for.”

It’s safe to say those fears never came true as Pokemon Go has become a worldwide phenomenon. People have been willing to leave their homes at any time of the night to catch Pokemon.
