With Pokémon GO‘s Valentine’s Day event ending today (February 15), Niantic is wasting no time starting another in-game event. The Lunar New Year begins tomorrow, February 16, and you better believe Pokémon GO will be celebrating that as well.
This Lunar New Year begins the Year of the Dog, so this event will be all about dog-like Pokémon. The post on the official Pokémon website states that Pokémon resembling dogs, such as Poochyena, Growlithe, Eevee, Snubbull and Electrike, will receive increased spawn rates beginning today and continuing through February 17. Additionally, catching these specific Pokémon will give players three times as much Stardust as they would normally receive. Poochyena and Electrike, which are both Generation III Pokémon, are relatively new to the game, so this event provides a good way for players to catch them if they haven’t already, as well as stocking up on Poochyena Candies and Electrike Candies to evolve them both into Mightyena and Manectric respectively.
In other Pokémon GO related news, Team Rocket and Team Rainbow Rocket outfits have recently been added to the game and can be purchased with in-game currency to make your playable character resemble a member from the classic villainous team from the original games.
