Niantic has just announced another newly planned feature that will be coming in a future Pokemon Go update. This time they are taking aim at gyms, making a big change to the way they work for players who are on the same team that currently controls it. While they haven’t explained everything about the upcoming Pokemon Go update, they have broken down a few things to watch for when it hits.
“As we continue to make improvements to Pokémon GO, we have made an enhancement to the Gym experience for Trainers of all levels,” reads the announcement from Facebook. “In an upcoming version of Pokémon GO, when training at a friendly Gym, Trainers will be able to bring six Pokémon to battle instead of one. In addition, the CP of the Pokémon you are training against may be temporarily adjusted lower during your training session to generally match your Pokémon’s battle capabilities.”
The main goal of this seems to be to allow even weaker players and their Pokemon to be able to contribute when training a gym. As you should know by now, the best way to capture and hold a Pokemon Go gym is to build it up, adding fellow teammates’ Pokemon to the gym, and making it tougher for rival teams to take it over. With these changes it seems to make it easier to do this, though players using certain well known tricks might find them tougher, or even impossible to pull off now.
We’ll have to wait for the Pokemon Go update to hit before we know exactly how it will change things. Hopefully it is all for the better, as gyms are currently not quite as enjoyable as they likely should be for more players. Maybe this will open them up to more, and maybe even allow for more powerful gyms to form.
