Hisuian Zorua and Hisuian Zoroark

Pokémon Legends Arceus Teaser Reveals Hisuian Zorua, Hisuian Zoroark

Recommended Videos

A new Pokémon Legends: Arceus teaser has been released by The Pokémon Company and Game Freak, which has revealed the never-before-seen Hisuian Zorua and Hisuan Zoroark.

The teaser, which was released on The Official Pokémon YouTube Channel, is styled as a ‘found-footage video’ and features a man venturing through the Hisui region featured in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, cataloguing his findings on a camcorder. Towards the end of the video, the man encounters Hisuian Zorua before being attacked by a protective Hisuian Zoroark. The video is actually a clear version of the ‘Rare footage of the Hisui region discovered!‘ video released two days prior, which features corrupt footage and audio.

Hisuian Zorua is white with red and pink accents throughout its design, a ring of fur around its neck and a more elaborate tail and head fur. Hisuian Zoroark features the same coloring and accents, a large, voluminous mane that hangs over its right eye and flows down its back and wisps of fur throughout its body. Although not mentioned in the teaser, the official Japanese Pokémon Legends: Arceus website states that Hisuian Zorua and Zoroark are Normal/Ghost-type Pokémon.

Hisuian-Zorua

Hisuian Zorua and Zoroark’s typing is a first for the series, with their Normal/Ghost-typing making them immune to Fighting, Normal and Ghost-types and only weak to Dark-types. Zorua and Zoroark are originally Dark-type Pokémon that were first introduced in Generation V with Pokémon Black & White, with Zoroark, in particular, having a strong connection to ‘N’, the player’s rival in the game. Zoroark has the ability to transform itself and control illusions, but it remains to be seen if Hisuian Zoroark retains the same ability.

Hisuian Pokémon are regional variants of Pokémon previously introduced that can only be found in Hisui, a past version of the Sinnoh region that Pokémon Legends: Arceus takes place in. Regional variants are considered to be the same species of Pokémon as the original, but feature a new design and often new typing, as well as occasionally having an evolution that the original is not capable of.  Previously announced Hisuian Pokémon include Hisuian Growlithe and Braviary, with Braviary even being able to be ridable by the player.

It is likely more information on these brand-new Hisuian forms will be revealed in the future, with the YouTube description remarking “Hisuian Zoroark seems scary…but it also appears to be protective of Hisuian Zorua. 🤔 What else can we uncover about these Pokémon?”.  Professor Oak is also mentioned in the description as the professor that restored the corrupted footage, which is the first time the classic character has been mentioned in any Pokémon Legends: Arceus material.

Pokémon Legends: Arceus releases on January 28, 2021 for Nintendo Switch.
