The announcement of Nintendo and The Pokemon Company’s plans for the 20th anniversary for the venerable series hit fans like a storm yesterday. One of the biggest announcements was that there would be a Pokemon Red and Blue Limited Edition New 3DS Bundle available starting February 27th. Of course, with any bundle like this, fans want to get a pre-order in early as they have a tendency to sell out. If you’re one of those fans, you had better act quickly though, as pre-orders are now available on Gamestop.
The Pokemon Red and Blue Limited Edition New 3DS Bundle comes with the New Nintendo 3DS hardwar, two cover plates featuring Blastoise and Charizard, pre-installed cirtual console versions of Pokemon Red and Blue, and an exclusive home menu theme that can be downloaded via a code.
A couple of things to note here: this is a regular New Nintendo 3DS, not an XL, and just like other New Nintendo 3DS units, it does not come with an AC adapter. It will use any standard 3DS charger though, but if you don’t have an extra one sitting around your house, you might want to buy one with it. The bundle retails for the usual $199.99.
Gamestop is just the first retailer to offer pre-orders on this new bundle, so if you don’t grab one while they’re available just keep checking back for updates. Best Buy and Amazon should have them up on their websites soon, with brick and mortar retailers putting the units on shelves on February 27th, which has been dubbed Pokemon Day as it is the actual 20th anniversary for the series debut.
