Even though Pokken Tournament is directed by Tekken’s Katsuhiro Harada, he reiterates that the Pokemon game will feel much different.
Some people speculated that Pokken Tournament will play like Tekken but only with Pokemon characters it. Harada promises that both games won’t be the same as Pokemon are different to human characters.
Harada said to IGN: “What I really wanted to do with Pokkén Tournament was to reduce the skills and experience in fighting game requests the player to a minimum and let you concentrate mainly strategic appearance of the game.
The two things that every experienced player in fighting games, said after trying the game were that this was deeper than anyone had imagined, and that was completely different from Tekken”
This is a good move as Pokemon have different skills and abilities compared to the ones in Tekken. Harada further goes on to say that the game is still accessible for players so beginners don’t have to worry about it being too hard.
Pokken Tournament will be released on March 18th, 2016 in Japan exclusively for the Wii U. The release date is yet to be determined for other countries, but it should be available later this year.
