This week Japan is having the Obon festivities, which is considered one of the biggest holidays of the year in the country. While hardware and software sales numbers are expected to surge in that time, today’s charts released by Media Create also reflect a considerable amount of consoles and games sold last week, in part thanks to recent releases like Dragon Quest XI. Nintendo Switch was clearly the best selling system, even improving on its previous week’s numbers.
Other consoles like Nintendo 3DS and PS4 also had very high sales, even two weeks since the release of the new Dragon Quest. Square Enix’s RPG topped the software charts once again in its 3DS version, although the PS4 dropped a smaller percentage this week. Level-5’s The Snack World: TreJarers for 3DS was the most relevant game release of the week, although others like Hitman: The Complete First Season and Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 for PS4 found their way into the top 10.
Nintendo Switch’s sales increase was also brought in more sales for most of its exclusives, including Splatoon 2, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, ARMS, and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
