Prey Release Date and New Details Revealed With a Fancy Trailer

Those waiting for new information on Prey, feel free to jump up and down excitedly because now, you have got some. And a fancy new trailer that shows off the main character, Morgan Yu, and a bunch of scary, inky aliens. That can disguise as chairs for some reason. I suppose disguising as treasure chests does not work as well in space as it does in medieval fantasy settings. Details that are not given in the trailer, or at least not very obvious on your first watch, are revealed through the official update. There is a lot of good stuff here. Including how you can acquire some of the alien powers via some questionably safe self eye impalement, and more information on some of the different fancy weapons. Which of course will all be useful when everything goes horribly wrong on the research station studying deadly aliens.

This new update has really renewed my interest in the game, especially the “GLOO Cannon” (Disappointingly not called GLOO Gun for much needed alliterative fun) which looks like it could create some fun puzzles or tactical possibilities. The powers themselves look especially fun, which is good because those abilities are what give the game some of it’s flavour. One of the powers even allows you to transform into various items, including a turret. Because, like the old saying goes why fire a weapon when you can turn into one? At least I think that is the old saying.

Most importantly this update has managed to give fans more information without giving away too much of the game’s surprises. Hopefully there are many more powers and weapons in the full game that are just as fun looking. Prey releases May 5, 2017 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Pre ordering gets you a pump action shotgun with a fancy mahogany stock as party of the Cosmonaut Pack.
