If last week we reported that Bethesda’s Prey had failed to reach the top of the UK charts following a disappointing release, this week the news are much different, as the title has risen as the best selling game after Mario Kart 8 Deluxe slipped to the number 3 position in the All Formats List. Prey becomes Bethesda’s first top seller since the release of Fallout 4 in 2014, a feat that neither The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – Special Edition nor Dishonored 2 could achieve.
This is a very welcome news for Prey, which was reported to have a much softer launch than other recent Bethesda titles like Dishonored too. However, analysts suspected that the title could see a constant flow of sales in the long term, as the public was finding out about the excellent reviews that praised the title as one of the best recent shooters in the market. Our own review stated that the game is the “perfect blend of thrilling action and thought provoking story.”
Prey only falls a 32% in its second week. A very good result in a chart where previous best seller Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for Nintendo Switch dropped a hefty 71%. The Nintendo title now occupies the third place in the All Formats List, topped by the unsinkable Grand Theft Auto V. Other titles in the top 10 include long term sellers FIFA 17, Rocket League or LEGO Worlds, while the last two positions are occupied by two first party titles: Horizon Zero Dawn and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
Beyond the top 10 positions, Resident Evil 7 manages to climb to #24 to #11 thanks to a price discount, and Bandai Namco’s Little Nightmares surprises by only slipping two places to #14.
