The long awaited, and long delayed Project CARS is set to release finally. It has now officially gone gold and supposedly has a solid release date.

Project CARS Creative Director, Andy Tudor from developers Slightly Mad Studios has taken to Twitter and posted simply ‘#ffd700’. For those of you who don’t know, or simply haven’t Googled it by now, #FFD700 is the hex color code for gold. So yeah, Andy was being sly and told everyone the game went gold.

Even more great news is that earlier today, Bandai Namco’s UK Twitter posted the following:

“We can now guarantee a release date for Project CARS for 8th May for PS4, Xbox One and PC!”

Stop the presses! They guaranteed a release date? Well then, this is it. Fans can now expect the title to release on May 5th in North America and May 8th in Europe.  This comes as great news for fans who were eagerly awaiting the title. This comes on the heels of the announcement of the title running at 1080p for PlayStation 4 and 900p for Xbox One.

Project CARS will release on May 12th in North America for Xbox One & PlayStation 4. It will release on Steam PC, on May 6th in North America. May 8th in Europe for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.

Update

We have updated the release date to reflect the difference in North America. Looks like PC players in North America will be the first to enjoy the title, followed by Europeans, and finally by home console players in North America.
