The Battlefield 1 open beta is set to kick off on August 31st, which will allow everyone to get a taste of the upcoming World War 1 shooter from DICE. However, there’s some good news for PlayStation 4 fans that don’t have PlayStation Plus, as it has been announced that having a subscription will not be required to take part in the beta.
The news was revealed on Twitter, where the official Battlefield Twitter account replied to a user voicing their frustration on having a beta code but not having PlayStation Plus. The Battlefield account replied with “You do not need a PS Plus account to play the Battlefield 1 Open Beta on PlayStation 4.”
As for what the open beta will contain, there will be one map (Sinai Desert) that can be played in with two modes. The two modes are the following:
- An all-time fan favorite of Battlefield players, Conquest is a large-scale game mode with up to 64 players fighting for the control of key objectives. With large armies on foot or behind the wheel and the addition of fearsome Behemoths, Conquest brings together all the elements of the signature Battlefield All-Out War.
- A 24-player mode where the Attacking force must find and destroy the Defending force’s Telegraph Posts, which can be used to call in artillery strikes. The Defenders can deny the Attackers their mission by disarming explosives they plant on the telegraph positions. Should the Telegraph Posts be destroyed, the Defenders must fall back to the next sector and protect the Telegraph Posts there.
Battlefield 1 will launch for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on October 21st.
