PS3 update 4.70 is now available for users to download. It’s a minor update that will be useful for DVD/Blu-ray owners.
PS3 update 4.70 should be available for most people to download right now. If not, you should be able to get it shortly. It’s not a huge update, so it shouldn’t take long for you to download and install.
PS3 update 4.70 has the following features:
“Closed Captions are now supported for the Playback of Blu-Ray Disc titles and DVDs. To display closed captions, select [Settings] > [Video Settings] > [Closed Captions].
The style used for for closed captions, such as the font, size and color, can now be adjusted. Select [Settings] > [Video Settings] > [Closed Captions Settings].”
Another interesting aspect about PS3 update 4.70 is that a new PSN logo can be seen. DualShockers captured an image of the new logo. It’s basically just the PlayStation logo inside a blue sphere with the words “PlayStation Network” at the bottom.
It will be interesting to see how long Sony will continue to bring out updates for the PS3. Millions of users of course still use the console, but it’s only a matter if time until everyone shifts their focus to the PS4 only.
