Sony reckons the upcoming release for Until Dawn on the PS4 will help make horror games mainstream again.
MCV interviewed Joe Palmer who is the Product Marketing Manager at Sony Computer Entertainment Europe. Palmer talked more on the impact Sony’s new game could have on the gaming industry.
He feels the horror genre is already mainstream in other forms of entertainment media. He is hoping the release of Until Dawn will push the horror genre back to being popular with the mainstream gaming audience.
Palmer mentioned games like “The Evil Within, Resident Evil HD, Alien: Isolation and Dying Light” have already created a healthy appetite for horror game fans. He feels if more successful horror games are made, it will give confidence to companies to release more of them.
Until Dawn will be released later this month and is sure to be one game that will appeal to the masses. One thing that it has going for it is that includes stars such as Hayden Panettiere and Rami Malek just to name a few.
Sadly, the horror genre has had some setbacks this year with Konami cancelling Silent Hills and Deep Silver dropping the developer for Dead Island 2.
