After releasing even small updates pretty regularly for awhile, PlayStation 4 has been pretty quiet on the update front recently as we await the release of the much anticipated PS4 System Update 2.0. Without a solid release date or too many details on the update itself outside of new features like Share Play, we’ve been waiting on Sony to provide that information. While it isn’t much, Sony EU’s Fred Dutton provided a little tease on impending release in the comments of this week’s PlayStation Store update on the Sony EU blog.
Dutton wasn’t directly asked about the update, but rather about updates in general for the console, in which he responded by saying the following:
“I can’t comment on new hardware features today, other than to say that update are always in the works – as previously announced there’s a big PS4 update just round the corner that we’ll be talking more about soon.”
Dutton doesn’t provide an actual release date for PlayStation 4 System Update 2.0, but it sounds like we may be getting that very soon, with a release in the near future as well. Just around the corner hopefully means in the next month, which would make perfect sense as Sony would want new features available for their console in time for the holiday sales rush.
