UPDATE 2:Â Services have been restored
UPDATE:Â The problems seem to be getting worse, with Account Management and PlayStation Video now impacted on PS4, PS3, and Other.
Sony and various other sources are reporting that PSN is currently down for nearly all players. The specific services impacted are Gaming and Social and the PlayStation Store . Of course those two make up the majority of player’s activities on their PS4’s, making this a bad situation for players.
There were no maintenance windows announced for this time, so this is certainly an unplanned outage. How long it will last is the only real question at this point. The official PlayStation Network status page gives the following warnings:
“You may be experiencing issues related to launching games, applications, and/or social features such as trophies, messaging, or friends list. We appreciate your patience while we address this.”
“You may be experiencing issues related to features on PlayStation®Store. We appreciate your patience while we address this.”
The issues are currently isolated to the PS4, with PS3 and PS Vita unaffected, except for the PlayStation Now service, which is also having issues at the moment. That warning reads “You may be experiencing issues related to accessing content from PlayStation®Now. We appreciate your patience while we address this.”
Sony is well aware of the issues players are experiencing and has already assured fans that technicians are taking a look. We’ll update this post with any news as the problems continue.
