Hideo Kojima had said a while ago that the character of Quiet in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain cannot talk. Why is the voice actress doing voice work for the character though?

Hideo Kojima posted some interesting photos on his Twitter account today. It clearly shows that Quiet’s voice actress (Stefanie Jootsen) is doing voice work for the character in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.

Hideo Kojima just posted this message:

Today we did VO shooting for Quiet even though she is quiet.

Gamers have speculated that the character of Quiet in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain was tortured and had her tongue ripped or something gruesome like that. Many people had thought she was mute so only the likeness and motion capture work from Stefanie Jootsen were needed.

It’s possible Hideo Kojima brought her in to do minimal stuff like grunts Quiet may do during Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. After all, voicing in a video game is different than in other mediums. Video game characters get hurt or can die so grunts and screams might be needed.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will be released sometime in 2015.
