At one point in time, Rare was one of the most beloved developers in gaming. The UK developer is responsible for franchises like Killer Instinct, Conker, Banjo-Kazooie, Perfect Dark, and others. After Microsoft acquired the company, they’ve been slaving away in the Kinect mines, with little to no news of “core” games on the way.
New job listings discovered by Superannuation see the developer are pointing towards a promising lineup from Rare on the next Xbox, whenever it arrives.
“The successful candidate will be joining at a time where the studio is looking to move into new areas and develop new IPs for future platforms,” says the listing looking for a senior product manager who’ll be responsible for “multiple AAA future console releases”.
This could be somewhat bittersweet news for Rare fans. Since the listing mentions “New IPs”, it doesn’t look like these next gen titles will be sequels to established franchises like the ones listed above.
