Ready At Dawn is back with a new game this month, and it’s set to be very different than The Order: 1886. The game is called Deformers, which is a multiplayer brawler where players control strange creatures called Forms. A launch trailer has been released that shows this weird game off, which you can check out at the bottom of this post.
The standard deathmatch and team deathmatch modes will function in a way similar to the Super Smash Bros. series, as the object is to knock your enemies off of the level. You can do this by rolling, jumping, dashing and absorbing items. However, there is also a mode called Form-ball, which plays more like a soccer game as you battle to shoot the ball into a net to score. The game supports up to 4-player splitscreen, as well as up to 8 players in online multiplayer.
It’s going to be very interesting to see how this game is received, as it is about as drastic of a change of pace as one can make coming off of The Order: 1886. There hasn’t been much buzz surrounding the game, though those who took part in the beta mostly came away pleasantly surprised. The big challenge will be ensuring that the game’s playerbase stays active with it, which hopefully will be done with regular updates.
For those wondering how this game even came to be, it originally started as a physics technology demonstration. A duo at Ready At Dawn then went on to begin working on a prototype for the game in August of 2014, which was while most of the studio was working on The Order: 1886.
Deformers will launch for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on April 21st. The game was initially scheduled to launch in February of this year, but was delayed so that the developer could address issues from feedback they received. Check out the launch trailer below.
