While video games are most of our audience’s preferred method of escaping the confines of reality, board games are in somewhat of a golden age right now. New ideas and fantastic games have been hitting the market every year for the last decade or more, and there’s no signs of it letting up. One of the biggest ways that new games come to the market is through Kickstarter, and today sees another of these with a video game twist. Resident Evil 2: The Board Game is now available for crowdfunding on the popular platform.

So far the campaign has reached over $90,000 of its $202,000 goal. This is only a few hours after release though, so expect it to hit its target very soon. The game is billed as a 1-4 player co-op strategy game. Players will work together to survive and make it through the horror of a zombie filled Raccoon City.

“Designed specifically for the Resident Evil universe from the ground up, this game brings the thrills—and the dangers!—of the setting to the tabletop. World-class miniatures and innovative new mechanics help deliver an experience that captures the essence of the much-loved original video games while offering new twists and turns.”

Potential backers can currently select the Early Bird option, which gives a discount on the original price. The game costs around $90 and comes with an expansion, an alternate Leon figure, and any future stretch goals that get unlocked.
