After Capcom showed some screens of the upcoming Not a Hero expansion for Resi 7 earlier this month, the publisher has followed it up with a gameplay trailer, clocking in just short of 3 minutes of action and somewhat cheesy dialogue from fan favourite Chris Redfield.

Capcom detailed their vision for the experience of Not a Hero in a press release earlier this month:

The free Not a Hero DLC sees the return of Resident Evil fan favourite and veteran BSAA soldier Chris Redfield. Taking place after the horrific events that befell Ethan Winters in Resident Evil 7 biohazard, Not a Hero brings a brand new experience playing as Chris to face new threats not met in the main game. As a member of New Umbrella, Chris and team quickly set up a strategy to counter this latest threat.

This DLC is set to launch for free on December 12th Worldwide, alongside the Gold Edition of the game – which will also include the ‘Banned Footage’ updates already available for Resi 7 players, and the ‘End of Zoe’ expansion, which is available separately to owners of the standard edition of Resi 7, and which Capcom says will reveal the fate of the daughter of the Baker family.

In the trailer, the hardened character who’s seen much more horror and monstrosity than the average joe expresses his apparent confusion over what the molded monster in front of him could be, when it’s simply a larger version of the enemies he destroys through melee and bullets throughout the trailer.

It still looks like a blast, and fans will surely be curious to see what else is lurking in the mines underneath the Baker’s Mansion.

Resident Evil 7 released in January of this year to critical acclaim, and we loved it, giving it 4.5/5 stars in our review.
