The original Titanfall was well received upon release, but found itself struggling to maintain a player base after too long. Titanfall 2 is looking to change that by being fully multiplatform, and it sounds like one game mode of the original may be available for newcomers.

During the recent Tokyo Game Show, PlayStationLifestyle was able to interview Respawn’s Art Director, Joel Emslie, and Chief Operating Officer, Dusty Welch, where Titanfall 2 was the topic of discussion.

One specific question that came up was whether or not Attrition mode would be returning in Titanfall 2, in which the two simply “smirked.” This led to a follow-up question on if this question had come up before based on their facial expression, in which Welch said the following:

“Interesting question. I would answer this way: The tech test was a very small subset of the game. We’re fans of playing (the original) Titanfall and all of its game modes, and just think people will have to wait to see what we provide next. Is that enough of a hint? But we’re all ears. I know the right people. I know the right guy. I know a guy and I think he’s listening.”

While they did not confirm anything, it definitely sounds like there is a pretty good chance we could be seeing Attrition mode again in the future. It’s possible this is already in the plans, or perhaps they are waiting to add it in at a later time. That is something we’ll learn pretty soon as Titanfall 2 launches on October 28.
