Seemingly taking inspiration from the Man vs. Wild survival TV show, Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics have debuted a new three part series titled Woman vs. Wild. The series will showcase the many survival aspects of the upcoming Rise of the Tomb Raider. Int he first episode we see Lara’s first few encounters with the wilderness, including the epic snowy level that was shown at E3.
Wild animals seem to play a huge part in Lara’s next great adventure, with wolves, bears, and other powerful creatures trying to take her down. In the video, which you can check out below, we get an idea of how players will be able to combat and evade these beasts, all while they search for clues and resources. Ammo, medical supplies, and other items will be the keys to victory. Once you’ve taken them down you can skin them and use their pelts and other resources for upgrades and items in the game.
You’ll need all of this stuff too, since the hub spaces in Rise of the Tomb Raider are said to be 2-3 times larger than they were in the previous game. This means you’ll have to survive longer, while also fighting off more enemies and wild animals. Inside of these hubs are the actual tombs that Lara can explore. She’ll also encounter allies that will offer her optional missions to take on. As the trailer says, “choice is extremely important” this time around.
Rise of the Tomb Raider hits Xbox 360 and Xbox One on November 10th, with PS4 and PC versions coming in late 2016.
