Crystal Dynamics has now explained in more detail about Rise of the Tomb Raider’s exclusivity on the Xbox platforms. They also explain why the deal was made in the first place.

When Rise of the Tomb Raider was announced as an Xbox exclusive at Gamescom, this caused a big stir among gamers. The explanation for the game’s exclusivity was poorly explained, until now. Crystal Dynamics has now released a FAQs section explaining everything in more detail.

The Crystal Dynamics official website posted answers to all the questions that have been surrounding the release of Rise of the Tomb Raider. The first fact is that the game will be out for both Xbox One and Xbox 360 in Holiday 2015. It’s not just an Xbox One exclusive as some people thought.

The second fact confirms that Rise of the Tomb Raider’s exclusivity does have a time limit:

“Yes, our deal with Microsoft has a duration. We aren’t discussing details of the deal, and are focused on delivering a great game on Xbox One and Xbox 360.”

“Yes, our deal with Microsoft has a duration”

This pretty much confirms Rise of the Tomb Raider will be released for the PC and possibly PS4 down the line. Crystal Dynamics also mentioned in the third fact that they are “excited to be partnering with Microsoft” to make the best game possible.

They said their decision to partner with Microsoft was not taken “lightly”, but they feel Microsoft will help them realize their vision for Rise of the Tomb Raider going forward.

Last but not least, they apologize for the confusion surrounding Rise of the Tomb Raider’s Xbox deal.
