Rocket League Coming To Xbox One?

Rocket League

Psyonix has seen runaway success with Rocket League, launching on the PlayStation 4 and PC. Recent comments from the developer suggest that the popular soccer with cars game will indeed head out to other platforms, quite possibly the Xbox One.

An interview with Psyonix’s Jeremy Dunham, Vice President of Marketing and Communications at the studio suggest that the developer is currently looking into other platforms because of the success that they’ve seen.

We are absolutely, 100 percent going to other platforms.

“We’re now in a position that we can expand our team,” said Dunham. “We are absolutely, 100 percent going to other platforms. What those platforms are and when we’ll come to them, I don’t know yet.”

While Rocket League could certainly arrive on Wii U, smart money has got to be betting on an Xbox One version. So why didn’t Rocket League launch on Xbox One or other platforms alongside the PC/PS4 release? Apparently the reason is because of the size of the team that created the game. “For the majority of the development there were only 8 to 12 people working on Rocket League.”

So just how probable is Rocket League on Xbox One? Dunham says, “If the game can work on the platform and we can responsibly get that game working on a platform, we will never say never to any of the platforms that are current-gen. Anything is possible.”

Rocket League just left Sony’s PlayStation Plus Instant Games Collection, and while those who are interested in the game likely picked it up there, Psyonix has built a strong base of players for the game. A base that the developers will likely be counting on to pony up for the recently announced downloadable content for Rocket League that features new cars and customization options.
