Rocket League Passes 4 Million Downloads in Just 2 Weeks on PS4 and PC

by Kyle Hanson

Rocket League has officially crossed the 4 million download mark on PS4 and PC. This news comes just two weeks after the game’s initial launch, meaning this has certainly become a massive success already, with more to follow in the coming months.

Developer Psyonix made the announcement via Twitter, saying “WOW FACT: We’ve been out for just over two weeks and have already had more than 4 MILLION players download our game on PS4 & PC. THANK YOU!”

Response to the news has been overwhelmingly positive, with many fans simply thanking the developer for producing such a fun and enjoyable game. Others point out that Psyonix could capitalize on the opportunity by offering DLC, which they’ll be doing in a few weeks with the first paid DLC package. Thankfully the DLC won’t upset the delicate balance that Rocket League has between its players, with the DLC simply offering cosmetic items, such as new cars and customizations.

One of the reasons that Rocket League has reached this high of a download number is likely because it is currently free for PlayStation Plus members on PS4. This has allowed Rocket League to gain a huge online community, while giving it extremely positive word-of-mouth advertising throughout the gaming community.

Rocket League is available now on PS4 and PC.
