Rumor: Fallout 4 Could Be Called “Shadow of Boston”

Bethesda looks like it has registered a trademark for Fallout 4. The game could be called Fallout: Shadow of Boston.

A NeoGAF user spotted that Bethesda registered a trademark on the official “German Patent and Trade Mark Office” website. From the dates that are shown, the trademark was first submitted on October 25th and has been processed and finalized on November 5th.

It shows that Bethesda has a new product which could be the long awaited Fallout 4. It just blasts the words of Fallout: Shadow of Boston on the website so this suggests this will be the new name for the upcoming video game.

A lot of people expect Bethesda to make an official announcement on Fallout: Shadow of Boston at this year’s VGX. VGX usually is a platform many game publishers use to announce huge video games. In the past, Fallout 4 had been rumored for the show but has never showed up. 2014 could be the year that the game finally makes it appearance, although in the form of “Shadow of Boston”.

Bethesda is obviously a game publisher so all signs predict that Fallout: Shadow of Boston will be a video game. It will be interesting if they swerve everyone and it’s a name of a Fallout movie or TV series. That’s probably unlikely to happen though.

If this rumor is true, do you like the fact that Fallout 4 could be set in the city of Boston?

UPDATE: Bethesda claims the filing is a hoax.
