Rumor: Microsoft Could Be Debuting A New Xbox One Controller At E3 2015

Some new evidence suggests that a new/updated Xbox One controller might be revealed by Microsoft at E3 2015.

On the Xbox One support page, there’s an interesting sentence that suggests a slight change to the Xbox One controller will be made. The new controller sounds like it will have a 3.5-mm port that will allow you to insert headphones.

The sentence says:

3.5-mm port (16). Used to connect compatible 3.5-mm audio devices. Only available on controllers released after June 2015

The 3.5-mm port will be located at the bottom of the Xbox One controller. This is similar to the PS4’s DUALSHOCK 4 controller. PS4 gamers can insert any headphones and listen to their gameplay through the controller. This is helpful if you don’t feel like spending too much money on an actual gaming headset.

To add more fuel to the fire, the Xbox France Twitter page tweeted something interesting not too long ago too. They said “we are quietly preparing…#XboxE3“. The photo above sees little men working on an Xbox One controller. It may be a subtle tease that the controller will be altered in some way.

It’s unlikely Microsoft will change the Xbox One controller’s design too much. It’s comfortable as it is already. The addition of the 3.5-mm port will be useful for some gamers.
