Rumor: Wave 5 Amiibo to have more Retailer Exclusives as Jigglypuff is Fastest Selling Item in Target.com History

According to an anonymous source that spoke with the Amiibo subreddit mods, Target’s exclusive figure, Jigglypuff, was a massive success for the company. As with any anonymous source, take all of this information with a big grain of salt. Apparently their association with Target has been verified by the mods, but without more information we cannot vouch for the info they gave. However, it is pretty interesting and important info, so check it out.

Of course, fans watched as the retailer-exclusive figure sold out within minutes of going live, but the source has given more information that shines a bit more light on the situation. Apparently when pre-orders for the Jigglypuff Amiibo went live Target.com saw a million hits on the page. This is by far the highest number of views for a listing on Target.com, with the runner-up receiving only 20,000. All of those views resulted in a ton of pre-orders very quickly, with the Jigglypuff Amiibo selling 500 units per minute. This makes it the fastest selling item in Target.com history, according to the source. These numbers seem a bit crazy until you remember that the launch of Wave 4 pre-orders, along with the exclusive Ness figure completely brought down Gamestop’s internal network, as well as their website.

As far as what this all means for collectors, don’t expect retailer-exclusive Amiibo to go away any time soon. In fact, the source claims that Target will be getting yet another exclusive figure for the upcoming launch of Wave 5 Amiibo. What figure that will be, and how the stock situation will turn out will be revealed in time.
