Mike Read, who was the producer for games like Crysis 3 and Ryse: Son of Rome, has now left Crytek.

Looking at both Mike Read’s LinkedIn and Twitter profiles, he mentions on both websites that he is a former Crytek producer. He has clearly left the studio which is having a lot of problems right now.

I actually got to meet Mike Read and played a co-op game with him on Ryse: Son of Rome last year. He was a nice person and seemed enthusiastic over the release of Ryse: Son of Rome on Xbox One. Fast forward to 2014, and things have changed dramatically. There was going to be a sequel to the game, but Crytek had to cancel it. The departure of someone as important as Mike Read makes me feel like Crytek is really in trouble right now.

As previous reports suggest, some employees have been leaving Crytek as they haven’t been paid on time. The status of Homefront: The Revolution looks icy with a number of staff leaving and no longer working on the game.

The departure of Mike Read at Crytek seems like a huge blow for a studio that has been facing tough times. Hopefully Mike Read is able to find another position elsewhere. As for Crytek, hopefully things end up well for them during this rough period.
