Rocksteady recently held an AMA on Reddit with the studio sharing more insight information on how things are going with Batman: Arkham Knight.
First of all, a fan asked why does Batman’s suit looks robotic and metallic in Arkham Knight. Rocksteady said this was done to “highlight the interaction between Batman and the Batmobile“. The new suit also impacts on the gameplay too. The suit will enhance Batman’s abilities as well.
Speaking of the Batmobile, it will have a huge part in Batman: Arkham Knight. Rocksteady wanted to make sure its addition to the game is fun and meaningful. The Batmobile is important as you will need it to progress in the main story.
In terms of the story, Rocksteady said it wasn’t too challenging writing the narrative for Batman: Arkham Knight. Some spoilers from Batman: Arkham City follow so avoid the next paragraph.
Rocksteady mentioned that after the death of the Joker in the previous game, they already had thought about what were the repercussions of this. Batman: Arkham Knight focuses on the fallout of Joker’s death.
Rocksteady also worked on the enemy AI in Batman: Arkham Knight. For this game, enemies can dodge and also counter attack you. They also promise there will be some “big fights” in certain parts of the game as you will be facing “a significant number of enemies“.
Lastly, some people will already know that Gotham City in Batman: Arkham Knight will be huge. Rocksteady says the city is very detailed and there is a sense of freedom gliding over rooftops and driving around in the Batmobile in the game.
It’s still a long wait until Batman: Arkham Knight comes out. It has a worldwide release date of June 2nd and will be available for the PC, PS4 and Xbox One platforms.
