Sonic Mania is one of the most highly-anticipated games to be in development for the series in a long time, because it marks the first time that the series truly goes back to its roots with developers that are passionate about those early games. While the game won’t be out until next year, the game’s collector’s edition was just revealed and it is very impressive.
This collector’s edition comes with a 12″ statue that features Sonic standing on top of a Sega Genesis, which even makes the classic Sega startup sound. This is accompanied by a Sega cartridge cast with a gold ring and metallic collector’s cards with a download key. Finally, this is all wrapped up in a collector’s edition box that features exclusive artwork.
As of right now, this collection will only be released in the US and Amazon lists it at $70, despite Sega not detailing the price in the announcement.
Sonic Mania will be releasing early next year, though that won’t be the only Sonic adventure coming in 2017. There will also be a 3D sonic adventure that is slated for release within the second half of 2017, though we’re still waiting for more details on that one.
