Splatoon 2 Global Testfire Demo Will Be Held On Nintendo Switch In Late March

One of the big announcements during the big Nintendo Switch reveal on January 13 was that of Splatoon 2, which is a full follow-up to the original, rather than the remaster that many expected. The game is not going to be available for the launch of the Switch, instead said to be coming this summer, but Switch owners are going to be able to get an early taste late next month.

As announced through the official Nintendo of America Twitter, Nintendo will be holding the first Global Testfire for Splatoon 2 much sooner than we expected.

“BREAKING NEWS! Here’s a Squid Research Lab special report about the Global Testfire.”

The preceding tweet didn’t have any details, but an accompanying video provided that information instead. Nintendo will be holding the first Global Testfire weekend for Splatoon 2 for the Nintendo Switch across the weekend of March 24-26.

Across this weekend, which comes three weeks after the launch of the Nintendo Switch, there will be what is essentially a beta held for Splatoon 2, where players get to try out the game, while Nintendo gets to test its server load in the process.

The only disappointing part of this is that unlike most “betas,” this Gloal Testfire is going to be limited that weekend. Instead of running through all three days, Nintendo will be holding six one hour playtimes where you can try out the game.

Nintendo used Global Testfires for the first Splatoon game a number of times to help better the game itself, so we have faith that they will do the same here. Even though the playtimes are very limited that weekend, it is still pretty awesome that we’ll get a chance to try out Splatoon 2 on the Switch less than a month after the system’s launch.
