Spotify is now available for both the PS3 and PS4. It’s a great free service that allows you to stream millions of songs.
Spotify was only 9MB on the PS4 and it downloaded really quickly. All you need to do to start listening is to log-in using your existing details. You can also create a new account if you have never used the service in your life before.
The best part about Spotify for PS4 owners is that you can now play music during gameplay. This was only previously possible on the paid Music Unlimited service that Sony used to have. Now everyone can play music during PS4 gameplay because Spotify is free for everyone. You don’t need to have a PlayStation Plus account either to just start listening. Streaming songs during gameplay is a PS4 exclusive, so PS3 owners miss out sadly.
Spotify has a great library in itself. Jamie McDell (a New Zealand singer) has her latest album up there already. That was the first artist I listened to, and I had her streaming in the background while I was playing Octodad. It’s worth noting not every artist is available on Spotify. Taylor Swift famously removed all of her songs last year.
Sony has also mentioned Spotify is exclusive to PlayStation for the “foreseeable” future as reported by Eurogamer.
