When Square Enix sent out a press release that the Final Fantasy 7 Remake would be released in multiple parts, everyone lost their minds. Square Enix has now released an official statement explaining more about this decision.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake’s producer, Yoshinori Kitase, posted on the official Square Enix website a message that clarifies a few concerns that fans have been having about the game thus far.

Kitase explains that many years he’d been asked to make a remake of the game. For years, he’d been hesitant because he didn’t want to devote so much time making the same again all over again. With this Remake, Square Enix now has an opportunity to “go beyond the story, world and experience of FINAL FANTASY VII in ways we’ve always dreamed of“.

The reason the game will be released in multiple parts is because it enables Square Enix to “expand the original story and turn it into an epic experience for fans and new gamers alike.“. He went on to say that a game of this magnitude would’t be able to fit in just one release. Square Enix held off making a remake for so long because “it’s a massive undertaking” to build the game from the ground up.

He concluded that Final Fantasy 7 Remake is releasing in multiple parts or else they would have had to cut content if it were just in one part. They did not want to release a condensed version of the game as that would have disappointed fans.

Kitase concludes that he hopes fans realize the share size of the project and ensures them not to worry about it. This is good news as many people feared the worst when it announced to be released in multiple parts. There’s still no release date for the Final Fantasy 7 Remake, but hopefully the first part can come out soon.
