Square Enix says it will be releasing the Final Fantasy 7 Remake so a new audience can be able to experience the masterful game.
Square Enix’s Phil Rogers was interviewed by The Examiner where he talked more about Square Enix’s aims for making the Final Fantasy 7 Remake.
He said one of the reasons the game was made was not only for long time fans to enjoy the game again, but it was also a way to “bring more people into our worlds“. He mentioned people that didn’t play the original game can now experience it in a fresh new way.
Rogers also explained in more detail why remasters and remakes are being made in general. According to him, it’s the fans that that usually tell them what they want to see get remade. Before they make a decision, Square Enix measures to see how passionate and big the fan base is for a particular game.
From Rogers’ explanation, Square Enix waited a very long time to actually start work on a proper remake for Final Fantasy 7. Many people wanted it to be remade back in 2006 when the PS3 tech demo was shown. Nine years later, and development has started on the real thing.
Obviously there’s still no release date set for the Final Fantasy 7 Remake. Hopefully it can come out in 2017 so it can coincide with the game’s 20th anniversary.
