A new video revealed at this year’s D23 Expo gave players a behind the scenes look at the creation of Star Wars Battlefront 2. This time, it centered on the game’s narrative instead of the multiplayer that was shown off at E3 2017.
As was already revealed, Star Wars Battlefront 2 focuses on telling the story from an Imperial point of view and follows an Imperial black ops team known as Inferno Squad, led by Iden Versio, after the destruction of the second Death Star. Bridging the gap between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens, Battlefront 2 explores what it means for the Empire after their infamous defeat.
In the video, we hear that characters will grapple with what choices they will make about who they are and what the galaxy will be like going forward. Iden, along with other members of Inferno Squad introduced in the trailer, are all loyal to the Empire despite their different upbringings. Because family is such an integral part of the Star Wars franchise, we received a better look at Iden and her father’s relationship and dynamic.
Throughout the entire trailer below, there were pieces of concept art, footage from mocap sessions, and discussions with the developers and voice actors.
Star Wars Battlefront 2 is set to launch on November 17, 2017 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. A beta is scheduled to run from October 6-9. If you just can’t get enough Battlefront 2 information, a partial list of the hero roster in the game has already leaked.
