The Starfield game that Bethesda’s Todd Howard teased at E3 2018 might get here a little sooner than we think. Today Bethesda announced that one of the development studios that had been helping them with games like Skyrim and Fallout VR and different aspects of other Bethesda titles will work under the Bethesda Game Studios flag as BGS Dallas. Formerly Escalation Studios, the developers will lend their hands in what is likely a massive undertaking in bringing this brand-new IP to market.
Bethesda Game Studios now features four studios under their umbrella with two in Texas (BGS – Austin, BGS – Dallas), one in Montreal, and their main studio in Maryland. This is not the announcement of an acquisition. Zenimax, the parent company of Bethesda already purchased Escalation a year or so ago.
Bethesda Game Studios has two massive games which are both expected to arrive in time for the “next-generation.” The first is Starfield, the space-faring RPG from Bethesda Game Studios. The second is The Elder Scrolls VI, which seems like it will arrive after Starfield. Bethesda Game Studios Dallas will be working alongside other BGS teams to make Starfield, according to the publisher.
Just how far along they are on either game is anyone’s guess. Todd Howard and Bethesda had very little to say about both games and showed no gameplay for Starfield. Many assume that Starfield will be an RPG that has similarities to other Bethesda RPG series’ like Fallout and The Elder Scrolls.
