Stranded Deep Gets Free Co-Op Update on Consoles and PC

Beam Team Games is finally adding online multiplayer to Stranded Deep after the game had originally launched into Early Access back in 2015 with couch Co-Op available, this will be the first time players can have a friend join in on the survival action from anywhere around the globe.

The update that will bring the online multiplayer capability is launching today September 28th, finally satisfying the players’ most demanded feature since the game’s launch. The update will come at no extra cost for all existing players and will be a part of the game for all newcomers.

Alongside this game-changing news, the Beam Team Games team has dropped a brand new trailer to celebrate the new update as well as a PlayStation Blog. The new trailer offers a new look at the co-op mode in action as two survivors instead of one arrive on the main island and start their journey of survival. The new trailer highlights some of the many things players will be able to do is building shelters, fighting giant sea creatures, and flying helicopters. It ends with a shot of both players escaping together which suggests that players will be able to play the entirety of the game together from beginning to end.

The Beam Team Games studio is made up of only a few team members and developers, and so they wanted to make sure the game had everything perfectly planned out ahead of adding this major multiplayer feature. While the game has had various big-time updates that were game-changing, there is just no debating how big of an impact this update will have on the game’s limitations and the enjoyability of the product by its long-standing fanbase.

“While players have enjoyed playing solo, the community has been asking for a Co-op Multiplayer mode since the game’s launch,” Sam Edwards, co-founder of Beam Team, said. “It’s something we have wanted to deliver for the community and have been working hard with our partners for over a year. We’re very happy to announce the arrival of this feature which is available tomorrow, September 28! This is a free update for existing players and part of the game for new players getting stranded for the first time.”

The game itself takes place right after a devastating plane crash where players are left off on their own and stranded on a small island with limited resources. Players will have to hunt resources to craft items that will be essential to their survival as they figure out an escape route all while fending off against several deadly animals and various threats that will test out the players’ survival skills.

Stranded Deep is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
